Mary - Maple Wood

Hand-carved in Val Gardena, this Mary of the Nativity is 10 cm tall and made from solid maple, the craftsmen's choice for small and medium sculptures. Maple gives an impeccable finish and allows fine rendering of carved detail.

Mary is shown kneeling, slightly bent forward with hands joined in prayer; her round, serene face and closed eyes convey quiet contemplation.

Part of the Aurora nativity scene, all figures have interchangeable magnetic heads so children can swap characters. The robes are painted in soft, warm colours — a mantle that graduates aqua‑green to olive and a reddish‑orange dress — with a matte, patinated oil‑paint finish that lets the wood grain show through.
